We all have dreams of the future that whisper, “What if?” But turning a dream into a goal, and a goal into reality, takes more than just wishful thinking. It takes an investment.
So let me ask you, "How are you consistently investing in your dreams?" I'm not taking about talking about them but truly investing time, money and resources into them.
In Get Serious and Other Principles to Pull You Through, there’s a chapter called “Finance Your Dreams.” In it, I wrote: “Place your bets on you! Invest in your self-efficacy to achieve great things!” And that truth still holds weight today. If you won’t invest in you, then who will?
Investing in your dream doesn’t always mean money. Sometimes, the most powerful investment is how you spend your time. Are you carving out space in your schedule to write, build, plan, rehearse, or learn? Are you showing up for your dream when there is no applause? I’m starting to turned my goals into routines like writing, planning, preparing, and showing up. I'm trying to be consistent but it isn't always easy to be your own cheerleader sometimes. But progress is a daily win, a daily choice to be better.
Progress requires persistence. I've heard it said, “How do you eat an elephant?” The answer is one bite at a time. I believe that’s exactly how dreams are built. Little by little. Bit by bit. Step by step. Every choice to take action towards fulfilling your dream is a step in the right direction.
Sometimes we stall because we think we need more money, more support, or more time. But the truth is, many of us already have something we can offer. It may not be everything, but it’s enough to start.
And let’s be honest: there are days you’ll want to quit but those are the times that build your character, your faith, and your endurance. And you'll be glad you hung in there!
Nugget of Truth:
Every decision is an investment. Every step is progress. Take one step at a time. Trust that every actions, not matter how small, will carry you toward the big vision. You don’t have to do it all at once. Just keep betting on yourself.
